Feedback from past recipients of Arrow's nursing scholarships.Lisa Maher from the Riverina Cancer Care Centre said, "The skills gained in this course are immeasurable. My professional knowledge, understanding and update of research has helped me assist and support patients, families and communities. The greatest thing I can give my patients is knowledge, strength and support. By increasing my own, I am giving further strength, and am therefore able to empower our patients." "It is vitally important that nursing health professionals continue their education and are informed in the ever changing advances in oncology so that patients are able to receive excellence in care and best practice no matter where they are located, be it metropolitan or regional." "This course has provided me with an in-depth understanding of normal vs abnormal blood cells that lead to malignancies as well as how the different types of treatment modalities can give a more positive outcome on a diagnosis. My understanding of the complications of these malignancies, and the subsequent medical / nursing management, will improve patient outcomes. I have also obtained a better insight into the different types of transplantations in these malignancies. The complications that can arise and the nursing intervention needed. This course has helped me to achieve my overall aim which is to provide best practice through self-education," said Kirsten Stewart, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
